So I finally finished this book! It’s taken me awhile because it doesn’t fully apply to me at this point in my relationship with my husband. But, with that being said, if you are struggling with feelings of wanting a relationship, how to have a good relationship, how to have a good engagement and how to have some great first couple of years (with a little one), Nick and his wife, Kanae, have great heart as they share their experiences and how they, personally, navigated through those waters. They share about how they felt during different scenarios and they give tips to would-be travelers who are behind them.
It was interesting to read their story (I had never heard of Nick Vujicic before this and will now probably look him up). The personal struggles they had to overcome individually and together show that it really isn’t easy to be in a relationship, and yet so worth it.
Nick has no arms or legs and felt no one could ever love him. Kanae had parents who divorced and lived in a broken home, mostly taking care of her siblings at times. It makes your realize that each person’s story is different but, really, in all relationships we have struggle and what is love really all about?
I liked that they shared some of what they went through because it reminded me of my husband and I and the crazy things we’ve been through, how much we have loved each other (and still do), what we had to learn about each other, as well as how we had to truly love one another.
It was a good book. They aren’t ultra conservative (like saving your kiss until marriage), if that is something you are trying to dissuade your kids from until they are married, but they do have a lot of good things you can glean from in their story.
I would probably give this book 4 stars out of five, because, like I said, it doesn’t apply to me, but someone else may get a lot more from it.
I received this book from Blogging for Books, for free to review and to blog about. You can check them out by clicking on the link above.
