So, I am so excited about this new study, Walking with God in the Season of Motherhood: An Eleven-Week Devotional Bible Study by Melissa B. Kruger! I haven’t finished it yet, but love all the things I have read so far and just had to write a review!
Are you tired of reading books that just give you a to-do list? Do you constantly feel like you aren’t going to get there? Do you want more studying of scripture than reading someone elses words? Than this is the book for you!
As we walk through this season of motherhood, we wonder if we are doing it right. Our attention shifts from one thing to the next, sometimes without stop, and we know we just need refreshment…but when will we have time to read the word with so many little ones? Or with sickness? Or whatever!
Each week she hits a topic. The three I’ve been through go through our personal identity in Christ where we believe and trust Him. Getting God’s word in our heart and what that means. Not where she TELLS us, but goes through scriptures and asks questions where we have to look at the scripture deeper! And the scripture is right there because she knows, as a Mom herself, that sometimes getting our Bible in one room and this book in another, with kids wanting us around every turn, helps us still get the word in us! The week I’m in, she is going through prayer. It is so basic and yet is rekindling my heart, yet again, in God’s word and is helping me think through ways I can incorporate the word and prayer back into my daily life, or make it grow more than it has before.
The other chapters talk about walking with carefulness, love, joy, patience and kindness…you get the picture, right? We are pretty much going through the fruit of the spirit and asking God to penetrate our hearts using His word!
I have been trying to get a fellow mom to join me on my journey, but people are pretty cautious when it comes to books of all sorts! But if you have been struggling with direction or trying to figure out where to start, this is an excellent book! And even if you already started, this is a great refresher course, especially if you have focused on all the activity and not the heart. Our hearts need to be full of Him so we can really bless our families with love. If we don’t know how to do it ourselves, love God and seek Him in the everyday, how will they? What have we been pointing to all this time?
Anyways, if you get the chance, GET THIS BOOK! Let’s turn our eyes to Jesus. 🙂
Be inspired today!
I received this book free from Blogging for Books to do a review.
