I could feel the piles, mess and clutter building up like walls around me. The sink was overflowing and the counter seemed to be cascading with unfinished projects and cabinet supplies.
Will I ever get to any of it?
It’s funny how sometimes it takes a couple of days to get to things…
Actually, it’s not funny, but it is life. And this season, too, needs to be embraced.
As I finally got to the kitchen around 10:23 pm at night, I kept wondering why I couldn’t get anything done. Anything “accomplished”. And all of a sudden it was like a whisper, the thought of: You accomplished more than you really know.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
As I began to ponder this, I knew deep down the thoughts I was having were from God. Why? Because though I fought with the feelings of failure, it was grace that gave me a glimpse of what I actually did accomplish. Not all of my day was perfect, mind you, but as I looked at my day with new eyes, here were a few snippets of it:
- I brought Monkey to a program where he got to perform a little play (and I got to see it!).
- I got to bring my kids to the library on the way home where they got some free ice cream.
- We went swimming and I got to play, for a few minutes, with each of my kids in the water.
- I made sure food was in the car and brought my husband food for lunch.
- I made dinner.
- I tried to comfort the baby.
There were some more things that weren’t perfect, like I said before, but all in all, I accomplished what God wanted me to.
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
And let’s hope everyday we truly accomplish what God set us out to do! And realize that you truly have accomplished exactly what you needed to.
Be inspired today!
Have you ever felt you couldn’t get anything done? Tell me about it and if God turned it around for good!
