So my dear friend and sister in Christ awarded my blog the Liebster Award! Inspiration to Creation was nominated by Poured Out His Love, a solid, sweet and honest blog done by a good friend that you should check out when you get the chance! She posts once a week and touches a variety of life topics.
The Liebster award is given to blogs with less than 200 followers in any one social outlet. It’s designed to show recognition and appreciation for an up-and-coming blog.
I also found out that this award can be given to those who have less than 3,000 followers in any social outlet as well, so since I have some new blogging friends about me, I am going to stretch this just slightly!
11 Tidbits About Inspiration to Creation
1)What is your passion?
I would say my first passion, hopefully and always will be, my relationship with God (God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit all in one huge packaged!). I want to know Him, follow Him, and surrender my life to Him everyday because He is just amazing. He loves me enough to pick me up out of my filth and make me clean. I always hope He will shine and show Himself through all I do. His grace and strength is sufficient in my weakness.
After God, I think I am just passionate about learning about life, family and outreach. That is one reason this blog is here. I can’t always get out there to tell others all that God is doing in my life, how he is working in my family with all the interesting things that we are learning here at my house and talk about the fun books I have read with my kids in everyday conversations. That life is more than just a chore. And so, here it is.
2)What is your daily routine?
What’s a daily routine? 🙂
I think it depends on the season of life, what time I wake up in the morning and what time my kids wake up. I mean, I can give you my ideal routine.
Wake up, get dressed to shoes, brush teeth and hair, swish and swipe bathroom and head downstairs.
Throw a load of laundry in, clear dish rack, take morning medicine, read Bible and pray and go for a prayer walk (if have time).
Make breakfast for my husband and I (if I can actually get breakfast going for kids at the same time, that is always good, even if they aren’t awake yet). Send my husband out with a hug.
I try to blog sometime during the morning (hopefully while all the kids are still sleeping but it seems I am still going when the first two or three are waking up).
Help kids get ready, make my bed, help make the kids’ breakfast (unless one of them wants to help and then I may just watch). Then family clean-up of house (mostly dining room and kitchen if other areas are still decent).
Then it is school time (we homeschool) and I have to say, I am not sure how I am getting things done. Sometimes I take the smallest and do “school” with them first. Then the second youngest. The two older ones can mostly do it themselves, depending on the topic. Sometimes I need to be there to help and it can get a bit crazy. Oh, wait, I am suppose to write what my ideal schedule is, right? Oh well! Sometimes school is whatever we make it, as long as certain subjects are done. Other times, field trips or a full day of reading will ensue. (My kids like a good book!)
Then we have lunch and sometimes we pick a fun thing to do in the afternoon or they get to go off and do things they are interested in. We do try to do an after lunch pick-up so things are still pretty decent.
After that, the kids go off and I may clean, go online for a quick break when my littlest one takes a nap, or go outside with my kids. It all depends on the day. This time is not always scheduled. Sometimes we go and hang out with another family or have them come our way! That always is a nice change.
Eventually we have dinner, clean-up after that, and there is a time of reading/music/family/movies time. If my husband is home he may pull out his guitar and we have practice singing different songs. The kids usually play and read unless Daddy asks them to join in. Sometimes this is the time I do exercises.
Bedtime for kids, time with my husband without the kids (though they still try to come down for the next hour or so), then bed.
Phew! Was that long! I’m tired just reading and typing it. That can all happen in one day!
And, no, not everything gets accomplished like this. This is what I would ideally like to do, or what has happened in the past. But life is not always ideal but I can say it is definitely full of grace!
3) How do you stay motivated to write?
I’ve always loved writing. I wrote in journals a lot and, even though not everything made sense when I read it later, I loved writing.
Letter writing was especially my favorite because I enjoyed talking and asking people questions and waiting for a reply (sometimes there was no reply but I would keep writing anyway!).
For this blog, I have a colorful marble notebook (now two, because I misplace one every once and awhile) and I write down any ideas I can think of. Sometimes I have two or three in one day. Sometimes more! I just will write the idea, or if I really have a lot to say I will try to write out most of it. Other times I just try to put key ideas in there so I remember when I sit down and type.
4) What is your favorite memory?
You know, now that I think about it, I think one of my favorite memories was after I gave my heart to Christ, walking outside and seeing COLORS so much more vibrant then I ever saw before and just the Spirit of God filling me up with newness and joy. Like I was clean. That was one of the most amazing moments that I will never forget.
Other favorite memories include when God has spoken to my heart and asked meto do something and when I did how He used it.
Then there are the times when someone showed love to me by just being with me or showing me how to love someone else in a real way. Those things stick in my head.
Anytime I had a special moment with my family (husband and kids) or with my Mom and brother is a favorite memory.
Anytime there is laughter and joy, as well, with family and good friends our my favorite memories.
How could you really choose just one?
5) What are your goals?
- To follow God completely, asking God to keep shaping me and creating me in who He wants me to be.
- To love my family, fully grasping each of their needs and meeting them to my best ability.
- To help my family be united and love one another.
- To reach others with the love of God through writing, encouraging words, helping hands, etc.
- To live life fully there.
6) Why did you start blogging?
I saw a need. A lot of women were like me. We don’t have a clue on how to live. We look for role models and mentors but sometimes it takes a long time to find someone to just show us the basics. It’s embarrassing to show how clueless we are in our home and in our life. We want to live for God, we want to grow, but we keep feeling like we end up short. Like failures. I wanted this blog to be something that helped me and others get out of that mode. To help us realize the fullness of what God is asking of us. That we are more than conquerors in Christ and each day we can add something small to change our lives for the better. Like one of my friends have said, it takes Baby Steps. To realize that no matter how far we fall, God is full of grace and will help us get back up so we can start again, if we truly ask from our heart.
7)Do you think you are going to stick with the same theme and direction for your blog?
I think so. This is what God put on my heart long ago and I still have a lot of work to do in my own life and just polishing up my blog. If anything changes, I will let you know.
Though, I was talking to my mom about doing a blog with her in the future where we could talk about more areas then I address in this blog. But that is another story…
8) What is your best source of blog traffic?
So far I think Facebook blogging groups have really been a blessing. That and Google+ seems to sometimes bring people in. That is something I am still working on because there are so many ways you can go about doing that. Some of it is over my head but I think with each baby-step forward, I will be able to figure out other ways. One great resource is taking the class with Blogelina! That is how I got this far.
9) What is your favorite thing about your blog?
Sharing ideas that have changed the atmosphere in my home. The comments and feedback I get from others. I love hearing about the times where something I wrote helped someone and it helps me make posts relevant for those who are reading a bit more. Other than that, I love when I can add pictures and appreciate the free photos I am allowed to add to my blog that the Blogelina class helped me find online. Pictures just help the overall feel of the post at times. 🙂
10) How do you increase your readership?
Hopefully by writing good articles (and actually editing them!).
One thing I have learned, and that I am doing more often as a blogger, is reading other blogs and commenting! When a reader sees that others like the blog they are usually more interested in reading it. I hope others do the same with my blog. If the blog has a way for you to put up your blog in the comment area, that helps. Sometimes you get more readers if they like what you had to say on someone else’s post, or if your post looks interesting.
Facebook. If I really like the blog, I share it on Facebook and hopefully some of my friends will check it out too. Again, I hope others do the same. I find I will check out a blog if a friend of mine shares it on facebook, so I think it is a huge asset in that way.
11) If there is one thing you could change with the blog what would it be?
Good question. I think sometime I would like to make a logo and make my blog look prettier. Or more inspirational. It feels very basic right now, but eventually that will change.
I would love to add more of my own photos, but I need to invest in a camera first.
I would eventually like to start monetizing, because right now I’m not. I think just making my blog worth reading is a higher priority. It would be neat to see if I could get a tiny income out of this to bless my family but I will keep writing regardless!
Lots of long answers, I know!
